Presque Isle Downs & Casino Fined Over $80K for Violations
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) recently announced that Presque Isle Downs & Casino has been fined $81,575 for violating gaming regulations. The decision was made during a meeting held on February 26, where the casino faced penalties for failing to comply with certain rules.
Slot Machine and Licensing Violations
Owned by PID LLC, Presque Isle Downs & Casino received a fine of $50,000 for not keeping an adequate number of slot machines operational on their gaming floor. Additionally, they were penalized $31,575 for failing to submit a Principal License application within the required timeframe.
The PGCB’s Office of Enforcement Counsel, responsible for overseeing gaming activities in Pennsylvania, identified these infractions and imposed appropriate sanctions on the casino.
Involuntary Exclusion List Updates
During the same meeting, the PGCB addressed the Involuntary Exclusion List, which prohibits individuals from entering any casino in the state, using regulated online gambling platforms, or playing video gaming terminals (VGTs) in Pennsylvania.
Notably, two men were added to the exclusion list for abandoning children in cars while they gambled at different casinos. One man left a child unattended in a car at Rivers Casino Philadelphia, while another left a minor alone in a vehicle at Wind Creek Casino in Bethlehem.
The board also denied an appeal from a woman who had previously been added to the exclusion list for leaving her children unattended in a car at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course.
PGCB Awareness Campaign
Highlighting the dangers of leaving children unattended in casino parking areas or garages, PGCB officials emphasized the risks associated with such actions. To raise awareness among visitors, the board launched the “Don’t Gamble with Kids” campaign, warning individuals about the potential legal consequences of neglecting children while gambling.
The PGCB’s next meeting is scheduled for March 26, 2025, to be held in the Public Hearing Room in Harrisburg. The board continues to prioritize the enforcement of gaming regulations and ensuring a safe and responsible gambling environment in Pennsylvania.
