The Oakland Athletics Move Closer to Building New Stadium in Las Vegas
The Oakland Athletics, a renowned Major League Baseball (MLB) team, are taking significant steps towards relocating to Las Vegas, Nevada, for the 2028 season. The remaining space will be allocated for parking, restaurants, bars, and other amenities.
Aside from the new baseball stadium, the project will also include a hotel and casino resort by Bally’s Corporation. The resort will feature luxury accommodations, a 90,000 square foot casino, and various dining and retail options, all situated on the same 35-acre lot.
The construction of Bally’s hotel and casino is set to coincide with the first phase of the ballpark development. The casino is expected to offer 75 table games, a sportsbook, a poker room, and 1,500 slot machines. More than 3,000 hotel rooms will cater to MLB fans and visitors to Las Vegas.
Parking Concerns Addressed
One major concern surrounding the new ballpark is the impact on traffic and the availability of parking spaces. According to the County’s regulations, one parking space is required for every 4 seats in the ballpark. This translates to over 7,000 parking spaces based on the stadium’s capacity.
Although the recent permit filing only includes around 2,500 parking spaces, developers believe this is adequate due to the proximity of the ballpark to other resorts and transportation options in the area. The project aims to provide guest parking spaces and 100 office staff parking spaces to meet the needs of visitors and employees.
