Industry Report: Nevada’s Gambling Revenue Surges in January
The gambling industry in Nevada has kicked off the year with impressive figures, according to the latest report by the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB). The state’s gambling regulator revealed that the gaming win for January experienced a significant increase of nearly 13% compared to the same period last year.
Tax Collections Increase Along with Gaming Win
Nonrestricted gaming licensees in Nevada reported a total gaming win of $1.44 billion for January 2025, marking a substantial 12.54% increase from January 2024. The fiscal year-to-date period from July 2024 to January 2025 also showed positive results with a total gaming win of $9.29 billion, indicating a slight increase of 0.03% year-over-year.
The surge in gaming win also led to a notable growth in tax revenue for January. The state collected $108.7 million in taxes based on the taxable revenue in January, showing an increase of almost 9% compared to the previous year.
Record-Breaking Baccarat Gaming Win
One of the standout performers in January was the Baccarat gaming win, which reached $215.2 million, a staggering 119.49% increase from the previous year. This spike in revenue contributed significantly to the overall growth of the industry in Nevada.
Las Vegas Strip Dominates Gaming Revenue
Clark County, home to the famous Las Vegas Strip, reported the highest gaming win in January at $1.27 billion, an impressive 13.26% increase year-over-year. The Las Vegas Strip alone saw its gaming win soar to $840.1 million, marking a substantial 22.45% increase from January 2024.
While Downtown Strip revenue experienced a slight dip of 2.29% to $83.8 million, North Las Vegas operators reported a 5.37% increase in gaming win at $23.8 million. Mesquite operators also recorded positive growth with a 9.68% increase to $17.4 million. However, Boulder Strip and Laughlin operators saw a decrease in gaming win by 6.20% and 4.96%, respectively.
Positive Trends Across Nevada
Washoe County reported an increase in gaming revenue in January, with operators recording $90.1 million in gaming win, indicating a 2.73% increase year-over-year. South Lake Tahoe and Elko County operators also had a successful month with gaming wins of $22.3 million and $32.7 million, respectively, showing increases of 22.37% and 12.98% from the previous year.
