MIXI Australia Plans to Acquire PointsBet with a Revised Offer
In a bid to acquire PointsBet, the Australian arm of the Japanese consumer tech giant MIXI has revised its proposal, offering a more attractive price. This move comes as PointsBet considers a separate takeover proposal by Betr Australia.
Revised Acquisition Proposal
Back in February 2025, MIXI Australia initially submitted a proposal to acquire PointsBet for approximately AUD 353 million. This offer followed a proposal from BlueBet to acquire the Australian sportsbook for AUD 340 million. However, in April, Betr Entertainment, which acquired BlueBet in 2024, submitted a new offer valuing PointsBet at AUD 360 million.
Betr’s offer included AUD 260 million in cash and AUD 100 million in Betr scrip, with potential synergies of over AUD 40 million annually, delivering a potential value outcome of AUD 1.33 per share for PointsBet shareholders.
PointsBet Considers Options
Upon Betr’s offer, PointsBet leaders stated that it represented a superior proposal. Following this, PointsBet proposed mutual due diligence between the two parties. However, PointsBet did not dismiss the MIXI proposal either.
Increased Offer by MIXI
MIXI has recently updated its acquisition plans, announcing that its board has agreed to increase the proposed price to AUD 398 million. If approved, the acquisition will be conducted through a Scheme of Arrangement (SOA) under the Australian Corporations Act. A Scheme Meeting is scheduled for June 25, with the SOA implementation targeted for July 8.
MIXI highlighted that the dates are subject to change based on various factors, and the completion of the SOA is contingent on approval by PointsBet shareholders and regulatory bodies. In the event the SOA does not secure the necessary approvals, MIXI suggested that an off-market takeover could be considered.
