Galaxy Entertainment Group Reports Strong Q1 Results
Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG), a major player in Macau’s gambling industry, has recently released its first-quarter financial results, showing a steady increase in revenue and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA).
GEG’s Impressive Q1 Performance
During the first quarter, Galaxy Entertainment saw its total gross gaming revenue (GGR) reach HKD 10.9 billion, a 14% increase compared to the same period last year. While there was a slight decline from the previous quarter due to seasonal factors, the overall performance reflected the company’s strong position in the market.
The GGR was supported by HKD 8.2 billion in Mass GGR, HKD 2 billion in VIP GGR, and HKD 729 million in Electronic GGR, all of which experienced year-on-year growth.
Net revenue for the three months ending on March 31 reached HKD 11.2 billion, a 6% increase compared to the previous year but down 1% from the last quarter of 2024. Group adjusted EBITDA stood at HKD 3.3 billion, marking a 16% increase from Q1 2024 and a 2% increase from Q4 2024.
Galaxy Entertainment Group’s financial report also highlighted a healthy balance sheet with cash and liquid investments totaling HKD 33 billion as of March 31. This, combined with the company’s strong cash flow, sets a solid foundation for creating value for its shareholders.
The board of directors proposed a final dividend of HKD 0.50 per share to be paid in June 2025.
GEG’s Chairman Optimistic About Future Prospects
Chairman Francis Lui expressed satisfaction with the company’s performance, commending his team and Macau for driving growth despite geopolitical challenges and economic slowdown.
Lui emphasized Galaxy Entertainment’s commitment to enhancing every segment of its business, particularly the premium mass market, through product innovation, superior service, property enhancements, entertainment shows, and smart table implementation.
The company continues to invest in non-gaming amenities such as retail, restaurants, hotels, and entertainment facilities. In Q1, Galaxy International Convention Center hosted various events, including concerts and sporting events.
Looking ahead, GEG is exploring development opportunities in the Greater Bay Area and overseas markets while closely monitoring regulatory developments in Thailand.
Lui reassured stakeholders that Galaxy Entertainment Group will persevere through macroeconomic challenges in 2025, thanking employees for delivering “World Class, Asian Heart” service to clients.
